Please read this carefully before committing to sponsor a child.
1. General
1.1 Northamptonshire Scouts Bwaise (NSB) is a project that is a part of Northamptonshire County Scout Council, which is a Registered Charity. The project started in 1995.
1.2 Money paid into the NSB account will be initially retained within the NSB account.
1.3 Periodically money is transferred from the NSB bank account to the Outspan School account. This is transferred electronically using bank facilities and at the exchange rate of the day.
1.4 NSB does not knowingly make any profit from supporting the child sponsorship arrangements but fluctuations in exchange rates do occur. Any surplus is utilised for the benefit of Outspan School.
1.5 NSB encourages Outspan School to send regular school performance reports relating to the child sponsored.
1.6 NSB asks Outspan School to encourage the child sponsored to write to the sponsor.
1.7 NSB will circulate to the sponsors any communication forwarded from Uganda.
1.8 NSB requests that the minimum timeframe for sponsoring a child is for two years
2. Liability
2.1 NSB undertakes to introduce potential sponsors to children who are connected with Outspan School in Bwaise, Kampala.
2.2 NSB will ensure transfer of sponsorship money as detailed above.
2.3 NSB cannot accept further responsibility once money is transferred to Uganda.
2.4 We maintain close links with Outspan School and have built up a bond of trust since 1995, but we cannot guarantee that the money will be spent in accordance with the individual sponsor’s wishes.
2.5 Uganda is a developing country, NSB cannot be held responsible for political or economic instability that affects the value of the sponsorship.
2.6 NSB cannot accept responsibility for the integrity or honesty of the child sponsored.
3. Payment Details
3.1 In order to commence the sponsorship, a one off cheque for the year or partial year that the sponsorship begins must be made payable to Northamptonshire Scouts Bwaise and forwarded by post.
3.2 Thereafter the method of payment to NSB by individuals is by a Standing Order set up by the sponsor. There are two methods of arranging this payment.
Option 1 The most helpful method is for sponsors to arrange monthly payment to a Standing Order direct into the NSB account.
Option 2 Alternatively sponsors can arrange for two Standing Order payments to be made direct into the NSB account in October and April.
3.3 Scout Groups can pay by cheque forwarded by post in October and April
3.4 Payments are made to Outspan School twice a year. Sponsorship money must be in place by the end of
October and April.
